Join the Pack for the Red Wolf Coalition Benefit in Washington, D.C.!

World-renowned pianist Helene Grimaud will give a benefit performance for the Red Wolf Coalition! This star-rated event is coming up soon. When? June 18, 2004. Where? The National Trust for Historic Preservation on Dupont Circle in Washington, D.C. Please come if you can! If you can’t attend, show your support for this important fundraiser by sending a donation.

Noteworthy News from the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Red Wolf Recovery Program

  • Number of collared wolves – 68
  • Number of collared sterile hybrids – 14 (including coyotes)
  • Births – NA
  • Deaths – 8 (three by vehicle; four to natural causes including mange, intraspecific aggression and age-related; one to unknown cause
  • Number of wolf packs and pairs – 19 known or suspected in Zone 1, 8 in Zone 2, 4 in Zone 3
  • Note: Releases from captivity may result in 4 new packs: 1 in Zone 1, 2 in Zone 2 and 1 in Zone 3 [top]

Red Wolf Curriculum in North Carolina Environmental Certification Program

The state of North Carolina has approved the U.S. Fish and Wildlife curriculum Far Traveler for use in the state environmental education certification program. Janice Lane and Sarah Krueger of USFWS will conduct the first workshop on May 25, 2004.
