| Red Wolf Howling Safari"Howl-O-Days" 2008
Join Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge staff on a Howling Safari for an unforgettableand free-of-chargeevening! Learn about endangered red wolves, found only in the wilds of northeastern North Carolina, and get the chance of a lifetime to hear their harmonious howls. Meet at Creef Cut Wildlife Trail at the intersection of Milltail Road and Highway 64 (approximately 15 minutes from Manteosee map below, or click here for specific directions).
These special "Howl-O-Days" will be held on four important dates in the spring, fall and winter of 2008.
- Saturday, 19 April - 7:00PM (Earth Day)
- Saturday, 18 October - 6:00PM (Wolf Awareness Week)
- Saturday, 25 October - 6:00PM (Howl-O-Ween)
- Saturday, 6 December - 4:00PM (Holiday Howl)

- Program capacity for each howlilng is 70 people. Please note that non-registered visitors may be turned away due to this capacity limit;
- Programs typically last two hours;
- Dress for the weather. Howlings will occur except with lightning, heavy wind or rain, or impassable road conditions. The decision to cancel will be made no later than 60 minutes prior to the start of the howling (please call 252.796.5600 for go/no-go information);
- Bring a flashlight and insect repellant;
- Personal vehicles will be used to caravan back to the howling site. Please note that roads on the refuge are mostly gravel;
- Please, do NOT bring pets!
- Please leave cell phones and other mobile devices in your car!
